About the Dolls
Roan's Victorian Rag Dolls were inspired by a vintage doll found in a tiny town in America, at the end of a long road trip. The very first lady made, Esther, was simply a new, creative experiment. However she was so charming and beautiful to behold that quickly another was made, and then another and another! Eventually, even these detailed ladies weren't quite enough, and they branched off into the more magical, Fairy-Tale ladies, who took the elaborate dress and fantastical fashion to a new level, with their hoop skirts, cobwebs and multi-coloured hair.
Each girl is completely unique, varying widely in style and fashion. Their dresses, petticoats, boots and bows are largely dictated by the beautiful fabrics that make them up, and trinkets and jewelry are improvised at the end - as the ladies each develop their individual personalities. They are made of, and dressed in high quality fabric, sourced from local business, and many of their unique charms and beads are vintage and rare. They are all 100% handmade, all the way from the hair on their head - to the pattern they're made by! |
